The State Mental Health Authority is Established as per section 45 & 46 of Mental Health Care Act 2017. As per Government Order No: HFW 44 CGE 2018, Bangalore, and Dated: 17/10/2018, 20-01-2020 and 04-04-2020, Karnataka State Mental Health Authority is established. At the first stage the Chairman, Chief Executive officer, Medical Adviser and official members were appointed. Later non official members were appointed as per the procedure prescribed in the Mental Healthcare (State Mental Health authority) Rules 2018 and Karnataka Mental Health Care rules 2021. Office of the State Mental Health Authority is functioning under Commissioner HFW services as Chief Executive Officer (at 4th Floor, West Wing, Arogya Soudha , Bangalore 560023). The chief executive officer shall have administrative control over the officers and other employees of the State Authority.
